Completed - Sep 9, 2026 Wounded Warrior Watercolor for Beginners

$0.00

I volunteered an hour of teaching time to share my love of watercolor and meet some amazing veterans and folks who support the veterans in their lives. My thanks to Chris R. and Wounded Warrior Project for allowing me to share space with the students who took a chance on this class! We started off muted and in our own worlds, but by the end of our session, folks were sharing their work and finding beauty in the work of others. Students noted they left wanting to try more painting, confident they could repeat what we practiced together. No drawing required!

Please email me if you’d like to take part in this class and we can schedule it! Pacificnortheastcreations@gmail.com

Class content: We oriented ourselves to watercolor, playing with the medium in the form of wet-on-wet painting, experimenting with values and learning about composition. Veterans who shared they might be precision oriented in their other hobbies were pleasantly surprised how much they could learn to let go in their watercolor practice.

Watercolor medium and veterans: I was unsurprised that even during our session, our Wounded Warrior participants were taking care of others. One of the strengths of watercolor is how quickly you can re-wet paint, re-dampen paper and get on your way. In watercolor, water is almost like a third hand behaving in its own way on its own time, It lends itself very well to watching vibrant, unexpected results in a safe space.
